My shiny new appointment at the Breast Health Clinic was today. It was supposed to be for the mammogram, with an unmovable appointment at the end of April for ultrasound, but I arrived to find that some angel had also rearranged the ultrasound appointment, so I settled myself down for a long wait and the usual worry that I would be forgotten - or called if I went to the loo!
The waiting room was almost empty before I heard my name, but then everything happened very quickly. A consultant performed the ultrasound and told me - on the spot - that everything looked okay, and then I was sent for the mammogram dance: stand here, two steps to the left, one step to the right, arm above your head, lean this way, now stop breathing...
There was a brief wait while the mammogram was sent in to the consultant, who did not call me back, which apparently means no cause for concern. And so I went home, feeling very relieved.
I'm still awaiting the official results, but it's looking good.
Finally I have to thank the consultant, radiologist, nurses and other staff for their kindness, patience and tolerance. Today, I really felt that people cared.
So relieved for you. Deb xx

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely great news, and also lovely to hear about the care you got. My Mum had breast cancer 8 years ago, and she still raves about the excellent care she got.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know you had to stop breathing for a mammogram!Hope they reminded you to start again when it was over!
