Reasons to be cheerful 7.5.15

One day I will come on here and say that my life is now perfect and I don't need reasons to be cheerful any more, but it is not this day it hasn't happened yet.

After a bank holiday weekend mostly stuck in the house, I've been organising more treats for myself, helped by a little insomnia. I feel like shaking things up, but will I have the nerve?

The chop

I've booked a haircut, which will probably end up as a trim, but I am tempted to go for a new look. Now all I need are some good ideas...

A prettier blog

You may remember that I considered revamping my blog last week and decided against it. So I changed my mind (I'm a Gemini, we do that). Lack of spare time means that I can't do it, but thanks to some great advice from Kate Takes 5, I've been exploring Blogger Templates on Etsy and am down to the last four, and now I'm stuck. All opinions welcome!

Fixing my eyes

I take ages to get around to things, but I usually do them eventually. May is cut price laser eye surgery month for some reason, so after blogging about it last year, I finally went for a free consultation this week with a recommended surgeon. Who recommended that I am the perfect candidate. Would it also be the perfect birthday present? I just need to decide.

Crafting

I did hope that I would unearth an unexpected talent for crafting and find myself among the ranks of those popular bloggers who are all over Pinterest after I took on the challenge of putting together a Welsh costume for Smiley's School Arts Week based on whatever I could find around the house. It wasn't a *big* success.

Never mind, perhaps I'll just stick to the day job.

  1. The photo of Smiley "unimpressed" made me smile. I have spent nearly my whole life being jealous of people who wear glasses, I think they're cool. However, I know someone who had laser eye surgery done and they say it changed their life (in a good way!!!!). You do not want my advice on haircuts and blog designs, neither is my forte, but I hope you enjoy both!

    1. Thanks Joanna: I spent 30 years avoiding glasses until I had no choice! I did have a friend who wore specs with plain glass in them to look more serious at work though...

  2. Ooh exciting times ahead for you. I've only been a glasses wearer for two years but would be very receptive to laser eye surgery, will be interesting to read more with you.
Haircuts are good, as long as you have a definite idea. I am currently Lego-woman-blonde-haired-J after a not so brill hair session. Using clips and things for a few weeks!!!
Oh bless your lovely girl xx

    1. Love your blonde hair and it's something I always intended to try, but never got around to it!

  3. Do it! The laser eye surgery, I mean. I had mine done about 5 years ago now and it was a brilliant decision - and I've now recouped all the money it cost/what I would have spent on contact lenses! Sorry but I'll have to admit to a smile over the costume - it's still miles better than I could achieve though! I'm one of those mums who cheats by buying whenever I can :)

    1. Thanks for the advice, I'm almost ready to... I would've bought a costume if I could, but there doesn't seem to be much demand for Welsh ones in Dublin for some reason :)

  4. Oh how can I relate to the 'I'm Gemini, we do that.' part - I'm too so I totally get you...

Hair cut... brrrr... I do that a lot and then after two weeks I'm sorry that I did it... my hair grows very fast and as I suck by making my own hair at home my look usually suck (why do you think there is almost no pictures of me) unless it stapled together what I can't do if my hair is short... so if you are better at this... GO for it girl...

    1. Well any photos I've seen of you are stunning! I also find it hard to do my own hair at home. Am always tempted to cut it short again and have a wash and go style, but I know I'd regret it :)

  5. I think I like this one: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/152489137359785058/ but they're all nice and clean. Legibility looks good too.
