Using the phone to hang out the washing and other reasons to be cheerful

Thank you to the lovely person who told me this evening that she was looking forward to reading this post, it made me feel very cheerful indeed, and more than made up for plummeting down the Tots 100 blog rankings this month. I have a few more reasons too...

Driving Test

Just in case anyone missed it and because it really is THE news of the week, I'll say it again: Angel passed her driving test last Saturday and that makes me very happy.

A family outing

It wasn't planned as such. I was bringing Smiley on a Sunday trip to a shopping centre because I was too tired to think of anything else to do. My son wanted to order a game, and Angel wanted more driving practice - you can't stop just because you've passed the test, you know! I wanted to take a family photo, just to prove we could all sit around a table in a cafe and enjoy each other's company, but Smiley refused to smile and the other two ducked. Of course.

The Gym

I *may* be a convert. Still a little anxious, but feeling brave and energised because I'm doing something new. Loving my one month trial.

Beating the traffic

Angel has been on work experience this week as part of a course, with a company based in another county. But with no licence yet or motorway experience I was press ganged into providing lifts. Well actually I offered, I'm too much of a softie, I think! Anyway the car is one of the best places to have a conversation with your children as they get older and I've been making the most of it. I've also been making the most of Google Maps to avoid some really bad traffic jams this week, caused by a tragic crash and even more rain. I even smugly tweeted one of my routes, which was hopefully more helpful than annoying.  I also snapped this with a slightly smudged lens just after dropping Angel off one morning. People really seem to like it! Also please tell me that I'm not the only person who always seems to put her finger on the camera lens when she picks up her phone?

Using the phone to hang out the washing

I'm not only beating the traffic, I'm beating the weather too! Aren't smartphones just the business really? My lovely weather app is pretty good at telling me when it;s going to rain, so as long as I don't get stuck in traffic, the washing doesn't get wet and I then I feel especially competent and efficient. Just don't run your fingers over the mantle piece, or anything else for that matter.

Hope you're having a great week x

    1. I used to dream of doing the weather on the telly :-) From a scientific point of view, obviously!

  3. About the TOTS100 ranking. I also plummeted this month. Do you think there is a conspiracy of an army of new bloggers using tactics that aren't quite cricket? Congratulations to Angel and to you as a second driver in the family must be a plus.

    1. Many of the newer bloggers seem to be very ambitious and work a lot harder at their blogs than I do :)

  6. When our children get their licence it really does help lessen a load. Well done to Angel. I'm also delighted to see you taking time out for you, at the gym. Enjoy.

    1. Except that she has to wait two more weeks to get an appointment to fill in the form for the actual licence, and then it has to be posted out to her. A bit crazy :)
